The Telhartic absorber is a standard component of a VX Module's Grant's Apparatus. Installation of the Telhartic absorber in an upside-down configuration is one of many errors that can lead to catastrophic failure of the Grant's Apparatus. Such installation is inherently very difficult, as most modern Telhartic absorbers use keyed fittings, and running a VX with an upside-down Telhartic absorber is guaranteed to destroy the Grant's Apparatus, if not the entire module. Consequently, "upside-down Telhartic absorber" is often used a joke diagnosis in the VX community, as a catch-all for any catestrophic failure, or as a sarcastic comment on the skill level of a VXer in need of assistance.
